NatRoad unveils Road Transport Careers website

Skilled worker shortage seen as prime challenge to the industry

The National Road Transport Association (NatRoad) has launched a new recruitment website focused onroad transport careers.

According to the peak body, the website showcases the diversity of road transport careers and connects job seekers and employers, providing a new way to search and post jobs for the industry.

“The road transport industry is the lifeline of the Australian economy, employing more than 200,000 people and contributing over $200 billion to the economy each year,” NatRoad CEO Warren Clark says.

“The ever-increasing shortage of skilled workers continues to be the biggest challenge for our industry.

“Many NatRoad members come to us with the same issue: the inability to fill transport and warehousing vacancies.

“We have launched a dedicated portal that centralises job opportunities within the industry and provides a common platform for job seekers and employers to connect.”

The Road Transport Careers (RTC) website offers comprehensive information and tools to help job seekers identify career paths in the transport industry and learn about accreditation programs that will help prepare them for those jobs.

“Road Transport Careers provides answers to fundamental questions for school leavers and industry entrants as they consider a career in trucking: What jobs and career paths does the industry offer? What skills do those jobs demand? And how do I find the best route to accreditation of value?” NatRoad says

The website also provides resources for employers on how to implement effective recruitment and retention strategies.

The portal aims to help employers understand how to fill vacancies, build long-term career paths for staff and advice on the government’s Apprenticeships Incentives Program.

In addition to offering information about the industry, the site includes the functionality that allows visitors to search for jobs as they become available. Employers also have the option to post premium jobs and access a pool of qualified candidate profiles.

“With the average age of a truck driver now 53 years old, NatRoad believes the industry needs to be agile in order to attract a new and more diverse generation of workers,” Clark says.

“In today’s highly competitive employment market, and with the increasing skills shortage in the sector, we are pleased to launch a website solely focused on careers in the Australian road transport industry.”
