Former Kings men spotlight Spiral Logistics

Peacock and Jorgensen take reins as Kelly stays with business

Former Kings Transport executives Scott Peacock and Peter Jorgensen have swooped on Allstates Vehicle Logistics Pty Ltd, trading as Spiral Logistics, taking full ownership of the Melbourne-headquartered company.

The logistics provider has serviced the steel and construction industry for 35 years.

In a communique seen by ATN, the new owners say company founder Des Kelly remains with the business and “will continue to support us, the new owners, with his strong customer relationships and industry insight developed over many years”.

However, as part of the takeover, Peacock becomes chairman and Jorgensen the managing director.

Jorgensen notes both he and Peacock have more than 25 years’ experience in transport and logistics and worked together at Kings Transport in the positions of CFO and CEO, respectively.

Peacock was also part of the 2018 takeover of Geelong-based Josies Transport Group – where he is now listed as director – alongside former Toll general manager of fleet and network Aaron Cole.

Providing an insight into the reason for the purchase of Spiral, given its connection to the steel industry, Jorgensen says: “Amongst our achievements at Kings, both Scott and I gained experience and expertise through winning, growing and servicing a large portfolio of customers in the steel industry.”

He adds: “Over the last three weeks, I have been busy meeting with customers, staff, drivers and suppliers across the Spiral business in both Melbourne and Sydney.

“These meetings have helped reinforce our plans to maintain a ‘business as usual’ approach whilst working with existing management, staff, drivers and customers to optimise service, improve safety, promote innovation and technology and grow the Spiral business.

“We are excited by the challenges and opportunities at Spiral to build a best-in-class logistics business across Australia.

“We recognise the high level of dedication and commitment across the sites and look forward to complementing this with our expertise combined with our enthusiasm to take Spiral to the next level.”
