BTS 19: Holmwood Highgate a home-grown success

From humble beginnings, Holmwood Highgate has grown into a leading supplier of quality tankers

OVER THE PAST 69 years, Holmwood Highgate (HHA) has grown into one of Australia’s leading suppliers of road tankers for the cartage of petroleum fuel, bitumen and chemicals, from the smallest rigid tank for use as an on-site refueller, to the largest extra heavy-duty quad road train being operated in some of the harshest conditions in our great land.

HHA also design and fit a full range of ancillary equipment for the many facets of the road tanker industry, local government bodies, the aviation sector; and with its involvement in the Land 121 3B and 5B programs for the Australian military with partners MAN Rheinmetall.

HHA employs more than 200 people at its Loganholme and Melbourne facilities, providing the manufacturing and design skillset to meet the most challenging customer specifications, providing the optimum capacity and in-service cost through innovation and quality.

Holmwood Highgate value long-term relationships with its clients; today it is dealing with third-generation customers whose families have been buying its product for over 40 years.

“Holmwood Highgate is the trusted partner of the country’s leading bulk fluid distributors,” according to Stewart Morland, managing director of IOR Petroleum.

The Melbourne facility primarily focuses on the aviation industry, also supporting HHA’s commercial and government clients in southern Australia, supplying aviation refuelling equipment all over Australia, south-east Asia, New Zealand and the Pacific Rim.

The Loganholme facility houses HHA’s manufacturing, design, research and development, and technical advice sectors. The design, R&D and technical advice sectors are manned by 20 engineers, draughtsmen and project managers that support the manufacturing departments in both Loganholme and Laverton.

HHA’s military programs have enabled market expansion. The company was recently awarded the contract with North American partner Merrill Technologies Group to design and build a Mobile Tactical Refuelling System for the American Army.
