BTS 19: The Bartlett Company

The Brisbane Truck Show is about connections, and surely there can be no more important connection in the trucking world than the connection between a truck and its trailer.

Without a good towbar you have nothing. The Bartlett Company has been engineering integrated towing solutions for 73 years, ever since Norm Bartlett began connecting trucks to trailers in 1946.

The company’s philosophy hasn’t changed since then, says Richard Bartlett.

According to the Bartlett mantra, innovation combined with simplification delivers better safety, compliance and efficiency.

“We’re proud to offer Australia’s largest range of professionally engineered and manufactured heavy-duty towbars developed for just about every truck make and model and preferred coupling type,” he says.

“Every towbar model has been has been produced to meet Australian design rules and regulations.”

Bartlett emphasises that getting the right gear is one thing, but understanding the legal requirements, equipment ratings and towing limitations is another.

That’s why having experts such as the Bartlett company at the Brisbane Truck Show comes in so handy.

It doesn’t just supply equipment, it supplies the tools to help operators take control.

With every towbar sold Bartlett supply a set of easy-to-understand assessment documents to clarify any uncertain areas of compliance.

“The COR (chain of responsibility) laws now require fleets to demonstrate safe work systems and practices,” says Bartlett.

“To add to our total customer service package we will arrange the expedient delivery of rating plates, and provide equipment specifications and fitment guidelines. Importantly, for traceability each towbar is serial numbered to match the VIN.”

The family-run business will also be bringing a selection of coupling types and safety chain equipment to the show.

Best known for its range of heavy-duty ball couplings, the Bartlett 95mm and 127mm ball couplings offer backlash-free and high-oscillation performance characteristics.

Attendees can also expect to see a range of commonly used pin type and pintle hook trailer couplings.

To comply with the new ADR rules Bartlett will be displaying its high-strength, heavy-duty “bare knuckle” safety chain system in Brisbane, a system first unveiled at the 2017 Brisbane Truck Show.

“This system helps to enable controlled stopping in the event of accidental trailer separation,” says Bartlett.

“As always we are looking forward to showcasing our special brand of towing equipment at this year’s standout industry event, the Brisbane Truck Show.”

The 2019 Brisbane Truck Show will be held at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre from Thursday, May 16 to Sunday, May 19, 2019. To secure your ticket – and go into the draw to win a Toyota HiLux Rugged X – click here!
