Cummins pulling power on display for charity

Six Cummins employees put in a big truck-pull effort hauling a Kenworth B-double combo over a 100-metre course

When it comes to keeping trucks on the move, Cummins has a solid reputation for doing just that.

However, six loyal employees – Mick Cristaldi, Brad Saffin, Glen Jones, Bill Northcott, Mike Fowler and Andrew Booth – decided to take that reputation to another level, all for a good cause, by entering the 2018 Fennell Forestry Truck Pull Challenge.

Held at the Glenburnie Saleyards near Mount Gambier, South Australia this month, Fennell Forestry has raised more than $100,000 for the Variety Club of South Australia since the event began six years ago, with $25,000 raised this year alone.

The challenge is for a six-man team to pull a Kenworth prime mover and unladen B-double chip bin combination, weighing in at 22.5 tonnes, over a slightly uphill 100 metre course in the quickest possible time.

Fastest time was recorded by the Fennell Forestry team but according to our Cummins correspondent, the engine ‘iron men’ delivered a powerful effort to at least finish ahead of teams representing Kenworth and Cat.
