Four join ATA Industry Technical Council

New members will provide diverse skills and expertise to the Industry Technical Council, ATA boss Ben Maguire says

The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) has welcomed four new members to its Industry Technical Council (ITC), which provides the association with technical information and best practice advice.

Joining the council are Boral compliance officer Samantha Jackson, Fuel Distributors Western Australia fleet and workshop manager Graham Lock, CHS Broadbent maintenance manager Jason Button and Viva Energy Lubricants Technical Team Leader Paul Smallacombe.

ATA chief executive Ben Maguire says the council brings together operators, suppliers, engineers and industry specialists in a long-term discussion forum to enhance industry safety and long-term viability.

“The council benefits both the industry and stakeholders as it raises technology and maintenance standards, improving the operational safety of the heavy vehicle industry,” he says.

“I’m proud to welcome our new ITC members, who will each be able to provide a diverse set of skills and expertise to the council,” Maguire says.

As well as providing input and advice to the ATA, the ITC is responsible for developing and recommending technical advisory procedures and safety alerts, providing industry representatives to serve on government and Standards Australia technical committees, and developing the ATA technology and maintenance conference program.

“The ITC is always open to new members and I would encourage anyone with an interest to consider joining,” Maguire says.

“This is an opportunity to gain technical information from like-minded individuals and become part of our industry voice into the future.”
