Boardroom change at Isuzu Australia

Isuzu Australia has appointed chief operating officer Phil Taylor as its new chief executive, asking him to find ways to better work with new technologies entering the Australian market.

The boardroom shuffle sees current managing director Hiroko Yaguchi keep her role while giving the CEO role to Taylor, who has been with the company for over 27 years.

After 13 years with the company, director of sales and marketing  Andrew Harbison will take on Taylor’s previous role as Director and COO, a move Isuzu Australia says reflects a need to focus on daily operations.

Yaguchi says the Australian market is showing new levels of strength and growth unseen since 2007.

“At the same time, the market is being flooded with an unprecedented level of new technologies, including enhanced safety features, electric and autonomous vehicles, and platooning,” she says.

“Australia’s trucking landscape faces disruption and change from many different angles, and IAL has responded with a number of new initiatives and an organisational structure that targets our key areas of focus.

“Phil, Andrew and myself are excited to meet these challenges and advance to even greater triumphs that drive our business forwards.”
