A number of electronic work diary (EWD) concepts have been showed off for the first time, and here’s what they look like!
NHVR executive director of productivity and safety Geoff Casey explains that 32 technology providers and transport operators intending to develop an EWD have now registered a Notice of Intent with the NHVR.

“Six of those companies have accepted an invitation by the NHVR to participate in an opportunity to discuss and present their products and concepts at the NHVR stand at MegaTrans,” Casey says.
“There has been significant interest from the heavy vehicle industry in the use of EWDs as a voluntary alternative to the written work diary, during the public consultation process conducted late last year.
“The Australian Road Research Board has been engaged to provide an independent review of the EWD Standards, which are due to be released later this month.”
The NHVR will start accepting applications for approval of EWDs systems from May 28.
The regulator will then assess systems against the EWD Standards and a list of EWDs that have been approved will be available online.
“We have also agreed to waive any regulatory fees for companies or individuals submitting systems for approval during the first year of operations,” Casey says.
