QTA launches leader scholarships

Association offers support, mentoring for leaders of tomorrow under new scheme

The Queensland Trucking Association (QTA) will cover some of the costs incurred by the winners of a new scholarship as they seek out opportunities and experiences to boost their industry leadership aspirations.

Launched today, the QTA Daimler Emerging Leaders Scholarship Program also offers mentorship from industry leaders, education on policy development and resources to boost personal and social media branding to the lucky winners.

QTA CEO Gary Mahon says the program aims to find the next generation of leaders who will contribute to the industry’s future prosperity – and helping them to develop their talents into the future.

“This program will identify potential leadership talent and provide opportunities to cultivate leadership capability within the industry,” he says.

The program is supported by Daimler Truck and Bus Australia, with President and CEO Daniel Whitehead saying scholarships are in line with its aim of helping to make the transport industry a career of choice for young people.

Applicants must be aged over 21, a resident of Queensland and employed by either a QTA member or an association affiliated with the group.

A letter of support from the applicant’s employer must be submitted with all applications, with the QTA saying that winners will have a commitment to their employer and aim to contribute to the productivity, efficiency and safety of their business.

Applications are now open and will close on 31 July 2018. To apply, visit the QTA website here.
