Colossal weekend cargo to be hauled from port at 20km/h
Much like the ‘superload’ that made its way across Victoria in February, VicRoads has announced a 108-metre long, seven-metre wide, five-metre tall, 558 tonne set-up will haul its way through Melbourne this weekend.
While the specifics of the load and haulage company haven’t been disclosed, the load is rumoured to be a large stator destined for the Loy Yang B Power Station.
Kicking off the journey on Saturday, the load will be transported from Webb Dock in Port Melbourne at about 20km/h before finishing up at Loy Yang B in the Latrobe Valley on the 28th.
VicRoads says it’s placed a large crew of Transport Safety Services on site for the operation, aiming to minimise traffic delays.

A number of experts were involved in planning the route, due to the sheer weight of the load and the amount of space required for travel.
The first leg of the journey commences at 10pm from Port Melbourne to Officer on the night of May 26, heading through Melbourne’s south east.
Then it’s on to the second leg at 10pm Sunday May 27 and 5am the next morning when the convoy will make its way from Officer and travel along the Princes Freeway to Yarragon.
On its final leg, the load will start its journey at 10pm on Monday May 28 from Yarragon and travel along the Princes Freeway, finally reaching the Loy Yang B Power Station.
