Kilgariff says ALC and Linfox will collaborate to advance the use of telematics in the industry
One of Australia’s leading supply chain firms Linfox Logistics has joined the Australian Logistics Council (ALC) as a corporate member for 2018.
ALC MD Michael Kilgariff, who met with new Linfox Logistics CEO Mark Mazurek, has welcomed the company to its membership program.
“After regular discussions over many months, it is a particular pleasure to welcome Linfox back to ALC membership to progress our shared objectives surrounding supply chain efficiency and safety,” Kilgariff says.
“These include advancing telematics in heavy vehicles and pursuing national operator standards to improve industry safety, as well as working to enhance our freight networks through better roads and other critical freight transport infrastructure, including the Inland Rail. All these items are central to ALC’s advocacy agenda in 2018.
“Both ALC and Linfox have long advocated the use of telematics devices that capture data relating to speed, driver fatigue and vehicle load limits in heavy vehicles as being central to any effort to improve safety.
“Such devices genuinely have the capacity to save lives on our roads, and with the technology becoming more affordable and user-friendly by the week, there can no longer be any excuse for not incorporating their compulsory installation and use as part of the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL).
“The freight logistics industry stands its best chance of achieving meaningful policy reform when it speaks with a clear voice that articulates the industry’s view.
“Having Linfox as part of ALC and Mark Mazurek as a member of ALC Council will strengthen that voice enormously.”
