Retter welcomes Walsh, Bransgrove and commissioners to the new roles
The National Transport Commission (NTC) has announced four senior appointments following formal ministerial ratification today.
Incumbent deputy chair Carolyn Walsh has been appointed as the new chair of the National Transport Commission (NTC).
Walsh will replace David Anderson, who recently resigned after four years in the role.
Current commissioner Nola Bransgrove has been appointed as deputy chair.
Current Commissioner Neil Scales, who is the current director-general of the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, has been reappointed for a further three years.
The changes will come into effect January 1, 2018.
NTC chief executive Paul Retter thanked Walsh, Bransgrove and Scales for their strong commitment to the national land transport reform agenda.
“Carolyn, Nola and Neil have incredible knowledge and experience, and since their initial appointments in 2014, have made major contributions towards the delivery of the NTC’s reform priorities,” Retter says.
“I am delighted that their efforts over the past four years have been recognised and the NTC looks forward to continuing our important work in national land transport reform.”
Retter also welcomed new commissioners, Steven Kennedy, the newly-appointed secretary of the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development, and Reece Waldock, former director-general of the West Australian Department of Transport.
“The five commissioners will provide the NTC with a well-balanced mix of heavy vehicle, rail, intermodal and government experience,” Retter says.
“With such a strongly credentialed group of Commissioners, the NTC is well-placed to continue progressing a number of complex and challenging reforms that will benefit all Australians.”
