PBS Masterclass for Sydney and Melbourne

HVIA to conduct classes led by top expert Di Cristoforo of Advantia

Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia (HVIA) is delivering essential Performance Based Standards (PBS) training to industry members in partnership with Advantia Transport Consulting.

The first of the two sessions was held in Melbourne today, with the next one scheduled for November 9 in Sydney.

HVIA chief executive Brett Wright says the PBS scheme allows innovative engineering to achieve much greater productivity from heavy vehicles with even greater safety benchmarks.

“The National Transport Commission’s (NTC) recently released marketplace report,  Assessing the effectiveness of the PBS Scheme, provides compelling evidence of the type and magnitude of benefits the PBS scheme also delivers to the community and to road managers,” Wright says.

“The PBS Masterclass fills a void for engineers, management and sales staff of truck, trailer and body manufacturers and dealers, as well as operators and fleet managers involved in specifying or purchasing PBS vehicles.

“HVIA are delighted to have partnered with engineering consultancy firm, Advantia Transport Consulting to provide this training.

“Rob Di Cristoforo is a pre-eminent PBS expert and a skilled presenter.”

A 20-year veteran of heavy vehicle industry engineering, regulatory policy and consulting, Di Cristoforo founded Advantia Transport Consulting in 2008 to work with the road transport industry and government agencies to improve heavy vehicle productivity and safety outcomes.

“There has been a lack of practical, usable, real-world information available regarding the PBS scheme,” Di Cristoforo says.

“This one-day course is designed to help manufacturers, dealers and end-users understand what can be achieved, and how to go about it.

“The Masterclass will provide detailed insights into the opportunities offered by the PBS scheme.

“We’ll then walk participants through the process of getting vehicles from concept onto the road, achieving great productivity benefits.”

The PBS Masterclass will be held at Bundoora in Melbourne on Friday November 3 and in Blacktown, Sydney on Thursday November 9. Registration is open to HVIA members and non-members. Places are strictly limited.

The masterclasses should be of central interest to:

  • Body and trailer manufacturers
  • Truck manufacturers and dealers
  • Vehicle modifiers
  • Repair and service businesses
  • Equipment and component suppliers
  • Consulting engineers
  • Operators and Fleet Managers looking to utilise PBS
