Near-miss dashcam footage lands driver in trouble

Court suspends driver's licence and hands fine for dangerous driving

A recent near-miss captured on dashcam, showing a truck driver overtaking a road train near Port Augusta, has led to the driver losing his licence for 15 months and copping a $1000 fine.

The driver, 45-year-old Jason Leigh Bartlett, appeared in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court last week where he sentenced for dangerous driving and overtaking a vehicle when it was not safe to do so.

The dashcam footage was originally posted to Facebook by motorist Al N Aileen Cortina who was forced to veer off the road to avoid a collision.
