Industry Achievement and Roseneder winners Bruzsa and Collins recognised for their hard work and professionalism
Les Bruzsa and Mark Collins were honoured for their technical expertise and hard work at the Technical and Maintenance Conference (TMC) Awards Dinner in Melbourne on October 17.
Bruzsa, who is the chief engineer at the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR), was awarded the Castrol Vecton Industry Achievement Award for leading continuous improvement in heavy vehicle regulation and standards.
Bruzsa’s accomplishments include computer simulation and evaluation of the dynamic performance of heavy vehicle configurations, investigations into stability, braking, safety and design of heavy vehicle combinations, accident analysis, reconstruction and investigation.
The national regulator has congratulated Bruzsa for winning the award.
NHVR CEO Sal Petroccitto says the award acknowledged Bruzsa’s passion and expertise as Australia’s foremost authority on high productivity freight vehicles.
“Les has a reputation for heavy vehicle innovation that not only extends across Australia but across the globe where many international organisations seek his advice,” Petroccitto says.
“Australia’s Performance Based Standards (PBS) program is one of the most progressive heavy vehicle design and regulatory schemes in the world, thanks to Les.
“The Australian PBS industry has grown significantly to the stage where we saw 1403 combinations approved last year, which is a 23 per cent increase on the previous year.
“Les has been at the forefront of advocating for PBS since the early 2000s and taken a lead in pushing the boundaries of innovation, which is absolutely necessary to manage the increasing freight task.”
Meanwhile, Frasers Livestock Transport fleet manager Collins beat two other finalists to win this year’s Craig Roseneder Award for his dedication to workshop and driver training, including TruckSafe inductions.

The Craig Roseneder Award recognises technical and maintenance excellence and celebrates the professionalism of men and women who work behind the scenes in the trucking industry’s workshops.
ATA chair Geoff Crouch said it was a pleasure to recognise the people in the industry who have shown outstanding leadership and commitment to safety.
“Every year, these awards confirms the amazing calibre of the people who work behind the scenes to keep our trucks safe and on the road,” Crouch says.
“Congratulations to all the winners and finalists, and thank you for the contribution you make to our industry every day.”
TMC is organised in collaboration by the Australian Trucking Association (ATA) and the Australian Road Transport Suppliers’ Association (ARTSA).
