Linfox chairman Fox welcomes Yates and Richardson to the board

Linfox Australia has announced the appointment of Peter Yates and Dennis Richardson as non-executive directors to its board.

Linfox executive chairman Peter Fox has welcomed them to their new roles.

“I am delighted to welcome these two prominent Australian experts to Linfox and I look forward to their contributions in these important roles,” Fox says.

One of Australia’s leading business figures, Yates is the deputy chairman of The Myer Family Investments Pty Ltd and a Director of AIA Australia Limited.

He currently serves as the chairman of the boards of the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation, Melbourne University’s Faculty of Business and Economics, the Australian Science Media Centre, The Royal Institution of Australia and the Shared Value Project.

Yates has previously served as the CEO of Publishing and Broadcasting Limited, an executive director of Macquarie Bank and MD of Oceania Capital Partners.

In the June 2011 Queen’s Birthday Honours, Yates was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for his services in the field of education, financial services and a range of arts, science and charitable organisations.

Richardson is a leading figure on foreign policy and national security with a career spanning more than 48 years in the public service.

Following almost three years as the secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Richardson commenced duties as the secretary of the Department of Defence in 2012, a position he held until his retirement in 2017.

Richardson served as the Ambassador of Australia to the United States from 2005 to 2010.

From October 1996 until his appointment to Washington, DC, he served as director-general of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation.

Between 1993 and 1996, he was worked as the deputy secretary of the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs.

Richardson is a current member of the US Studies Centre’s board of directors.
