Border Express buys rival Rossfreight Express

Newly purchased company to operate as separate business unit

Border Express has bought New South Wales regional delivery firm Rossfreight Express for an undisclosed sum.

With half a century of operation behind it and focused on overnight delivery, family-run Rossfreight has over the years expanded from catering mainly to the fashion and pharmaceutical sectors to include permanent hire, taxi truck, linehaul and transport management.

Rossfreight Express will continue to operate as a separate business unit in the short to medium term, according to Border Express CEO Mostafa Kassaby.

“Through this acquisition, we have created a unique strategic opportunity by combining Rossfreight Express’s many years of experience and unparalleled extensive regional network with Border Express’s expansive national footprint,” Kassaby says.

“The acquisition of Rossfreight Express reinforces Border Express’s focus to continually grow its network reach.

“Over the past several years we have aggressively positioned Border Express to become Australia’s leading road express freight provider and this will certainly not stop.

“Through new product developments and broader opportunities, the appetite for innovation and leading-edge technology is at the forefront of the organisation and our future is one to be very excited about.”

Kassaby insists the acquisition is “a winning combination for both companies and is a perfect fit, sharing a common culture in commitment to customer service and family values”.

Rossfreight has a fleet of 60 vehicles which consists of pick-up and delivery and linehaul units, a Border spokesperson tells ATN.

Rossfreight agreed to the sale as its mangement believed Border Express was “the right fit and culture, they also wanted to ensure that the company which they sold to could offer their employees a secure future and longevity”.
