New sub-contractor driver management app unveiled

Transcheck will be officially launched at the CTAA Conference on August 30

A new technology platform and mobile application, Transcheck, is set for launch at Container Transport Alliance Australia (CTAA’s) upcoming event in Melbourne.

The new safety management system will help prime contractors maintain safety and compliance information of the sub-contracted fleet and drivers.

It will allow managers to keep track of the necessary information such as licences, insurance documents, accreditations, vehicle maintenance records and registrations.

Founder and safety specialist Denise Zumpe says the system is designed to benefit both transport business operators and drivers.

“I know from first-hand experience that transport companies spend hours requesting work-ready information from sub-contracted fleet operators and owner drivers to verify their safety and compliance status,” Zumpe says.

“And, it’s a constant job as licence renewals, registrations, insurances, vehicle maintenance records, and other necessary documents fall due at all different times.

“Transcheck will take care of all of that for road transport operators.

“You will log-on to the Transcheck web portal and see how many fleet and owner operators you are using, how many drivers and vehicles are approved, a photo of the driver, photo of the vehicle, and other work-ready information you need such as MSIC [Maritime Security Identification Card] clearance, inductions and mass management.

“For drivers, it’s all done via a mobile phone app.

“Download the app for free, set up your account, fill in the required information and upload photos of your documents”.

“Transcheck will verify everything is current and the driver will be given ‘approved’ status. Transport companies and drivers ‘connect’ and you’re ready to go.”

The system is designed to do follow-ups and update relevant information where necessary, with the status varying from approved, to pending or rejected.

Transcheck will be officially launched at the CTAA Contractor Management Conference at Yarraville on August 30.

CTAA director Neil Chambers says given the recent changes to the chain of responsibility (COR) laws the new safety management system will be benefit all sectors of the road transport industry.

“CTAA applauds Denise for designing this technology platform that is accessible, easy to use, and will save all parties in the road transport chain time and money.” Chambers says.

“Changes to the chain of responsibility (COR) provisions in the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) from next year will increase the shared responsibility of transport operators and others in the chain to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the safety of transport activities such as consigning, operating and contracting drivers of heavy vehicles.

“You cannot contract out of your COR obligations. You must ensure that your contractors and subcontractors understand and are equipped to comply with the COR obligations arising from the work you are contracting them to carry out.”
