TruckSafe sees significant moves at the top

Kroon to chair body as two new directors take places

Tasmanian risk and compliance manager Ferdie Kroon will now chair TruckSafe in three moves affecting its board.

Kroon replaces Stephen Marley, who has retired from TruckSafe after six years in the role, while director two replacements have also arrived.

“Stephen was the driving force behind the revision of the TruckSafe standards, with our new standards taking effect from January 2017,” Kroon says.

“The new standards introduce new risk management concepts into TruckSafe for assuring on-road compliance and also require the staff of TruckSafe accredited operators to receive refresher training every three years.

“I would also like to thank the retiring directors, Darby Sullivan of Navillus Holdings, and Darren Nolan, the director of Nolan’s Interstate Transport.

“They have been stalwart and dedicated directors and I thank them for their service over the years.”

Kroon is the risk and compliance manager at De Bruyn’s Transport Tasmania and has been an active member of the trucking industry for more than a decade.

“My aim is to embrace opportunities for growing the TruckSafe brand among many more operators right across Australia,” Kroon says.

“I’m looking forward to working with the TruckSafe board and the ATA staff to maintain our position as leaders in safe transport operations.”

Paul Fellows and David Rogers are the new faces on the board.

Fellows is the MD of Fellows Transport, which won the 2016 TruckSafe John Kelly Memorial Award.

“I’ve always had a love of trucks, ever since I started in the industry when I was 15 year’s old,” Fellows says.

“It’s a great industry full of really great people and I’m looking forward to working to improve our industry.”

Rogers is the MD of DT Rogers Bulk Transport.

“I’m honoured to take on the role of TruckSafe director I would like to thank the Australian Livestock and Rural Transporters Association for this opportunity,” Rogers says.

“I will do my very best to make sure TruckSafe keeps delivering.

“In particular, I want to see the TruckSafe animal welfare module recognised as a national standard of excellence by customers and consumers alike.”
