Queensland and SA recruitment demand shines

South-eastern states failing to keep growth pace: Seek

Transport and logistics (T&L) recruitment demand is in pretty good shape, with employment firm Seek revealing growth in the past three months compared with the same time last year.

The T&L industry is part of Seek’s broad ‘Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics’ segment, which grew 9 per cent from February to April this year compared with 12 months earlier.

The fields with greatest demand for workers across the industry were:

  • warehouse, storage, and distribution
  • road transport
  • assembly and process work.

“Job ads on Seek for Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics have been on an upward trend since 2014,” Seek Australia and New Zealand MD Michael Ilczynski says.

“Over the past three month, the strongest demand for professionals in this industry was seen across New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.

“However, the rate of advertising growth for the Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics sector in NSW [up 6 per cent year-on-year] and Victoria [up 5 per cent y/y] has been the slowest of all the states and territories from February to April this year, when compared to the corresponding period in 2016.

“Queensland [up 23 per cent y/y] and South Australia [up 22 per cent y/y] enjoyed the fastest growth.”

National average advertised annual salary on Seek for segment professionals is $72,343.
