The Australian Road Transport Suppliers’ Association (ARTSA) has unveiled program for its 2017 Heavy Vehicle Modification and Innovation Conference to be held from March 2-3 at the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC) House in Melbourne.

The event will be held in association with the Commercial Vehicle Industry Association Victoria (CVIAV) and the Commercial Vehicle Industry Association Australia (CVIAA), and will be supported by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).

With a focus on heavy vehicle modifications and design innovation, the conference will outline good practice and compulsory actions for workshops and operators, and explain the chain of responsibility (COR) obligations for both vehicle modifiers and workshops.

A practical guide to design modifications to help industry members better understand rules and obligations will be released during the event.

The conference will welcome feedback from the attendees on the proposed revisions to the Heavy Vehicle Modifications Code (formerly VSB6).

It will also consider policy settings and regulations that are needed to promote a safe and efficient uptake of new technologies and innovations.
