Melham replacement announced and will take up the position next year
The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) has appointed Ben Maguire as its new CEO, replacing five-year servant Christopher Melham who finished in October.
Scheduled to take up the CEO position in early 2017, the former Stockman’s Hall of Fame CEO will bring an outcome focused, strong, resourceful and committed approach to his new role at the industry body, ATA chair Noelene Watson says.
“Ben is a skilled advocate, highly regarded collaborator and known fair negotiator,” she says.
“He is committed to contributing to whole of business outcomes for the ATA, and is a leader who will mentor staff and control the ATA’s internal processes.
“He is strategic and innovative, and will deliver results.”
Currently working as a management consultant, Maguire began his career with AGL Energy in 1998 where he worked as an operations manager, business development manager and then national franchise manager until 2006.
From 2007 to 2014, Maguire held the CEO position at the Stockman’s Hall of Fame in Longreach, a role that saw him work with the Royal Flying Doctor Service and manage the inaugural Outback Horse and Heritage Expo in 2013.
A member of the council of the National Museum of Australia and a co-deputy chair of the Regional Development Australia Southern Inland Committee, Maguire says he is ready for the ATA challenge.
“Leading the ATA team and working with the board is a privilege, and a role that I am honoured to take on,” Maguire says.
Melham left the ATA CEO position to take up a role in another industry association.
