Southern Rivers Haulage joins TruckSafe

Victorian-based livestock hauler adds to growing TruckSafe accreditation family

TruckSafe has a new member, with Victorian company Southern Rivers Haulage joining the accreditation program this month.

Based in Ballan, Southern Rivers Haulage was established 54 years ago as a single truck operation and has since grown to a four B-double fleet.

Transporting livestock out of Forbes and Dubbo, the family business is run by Desmond Conroy and aided by his sons, Anthony and Danny.

Having been a TruckCare member since 2008, Desmond Conroy says the meat industry he deals with prefer companies with both accreditations.

“The abattoirs prefer operators to have TruckCare and now TruckSafe – it helps you to have all the paperwork, and it’s a good idea,” he says.

“If you have any problems, it also helps to prove that you’re a good operator, and that your drivers are well trained.

“Your staff are your business – if you have good drivers, that’s the key.”

The family business has been welcomed by TruckSafe chairman Stephen Marley, who says the company has gone above and beyond to meet the standards in management, maintenance, training, and workplace and driver health.

“I’d like to congratulate Southern Rivers Haulage on becoming a fully accredited TruckSafe operator, and welcome them to the TruckSafe family,” Marley says.

“When you use a TruckSafe accredited business, you know you’re dealing with a safe, professional operator.”
