TruckSafe membership grows by two

The accreditation program has two new cattle-transporting members

TruckSafe has welcomed two new members into the fold with RJ Loveday Transport and Mitchell’s Livestock Transport joining the accreditation program this month.

Commending the two companies on gaining TruckSafe accreditation, TruckSafe chairman Stephen Marley says it is “fantastic to have these trucking operators going the extra mile to make sure they run a safe, professional business.”

“I congratulate RJ Loveday Transport and Mitchell’s Livestock Transport on achieving their TruckSafe accreditation,” Marley says.

The first of the new members, RJ Loveday Transport, has been operating out of Queensland for over 11 years transporting certified-organic cattle around the state’s border with South Australia.

“We run a very compliant business and have very good gear – frankly, there was no reason we shouldn’t be in TruckSafe and TruckCare,” owner Richard Loveday says.

“I’ve got a really excellent crew, and they make it worth going in to work every day.

“We’re always improving, and TruckSafe is just another part of that.”

Having been a TruckCare member since 2001, the addition of third-generation Western Australian family business, Mitchell’s Livestock Transport, to the TruckSafe membership is part of the company’s endeavour to juggle logistics, animal welfare, vehicle safety, and innovation.

“There are really two things TruckSafe does – the first is that it generally raises the bar right across our business,” CEO John Mitchell says.

“The other is that we really try to eliminate as many risks as we can, and TruckSafe helps us do that.”

Hauling over 500,000 cattle annually across 1,500 pickup and delivery locations, Mitchell says it is his staff members that make accreditation possible.

“We’re really proud of our fantastic staff and the way they look after the livestock,” he says.

“It’s about striving to make ourselves the best we can be to look after our customers and their cattle.”
