Logistics giant Linfox is partnering with Australia Post business StarTrack to handle its linehaul services, allocating 32 new Volvo Euro 5 prime movers to the deal.

Linfox says the new partnership will offer "improved visibility and reliability for StarTrack’s Express Service, which delivers more than 200,000 freight items across Australia each day."

Under the commitment, Linfox is running more than 200 interstate hauls each week and nightly freight services between South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.

Linfox’s linehaul specialist network manager Paul Wilken says Linfox is able to provide StarTrack customers with reliable arrival and departure information because it is "constantly exchanging" information with the Australia Post subsidiary.

"We monitor vehicle locations and road conditions via our central control room to provide live location updates and mitigate any delays," Wilken says.

"This level of communication ensures StarTrack can better service the expectations of their customers."

Pulling the StarTrack trailer fleet are the new Volvo prime movers with Euro 5-compliant engines, Wilken says, "providing reliability, fuel efficiency and excellent safety features."

"The vehicles also offer maximum environmental efficiency which reflects our commitment to reducing environmental emission across our fleet."

The move comes as the company settles into relationships with toy firm Hasbro and Dulux.

"The site offers state-of-the-art technology, including our SAP Warehouse Management system which provides customers with improved resource and inventory management and greater visibility of stock," Linfox FMCG manager Mike Sullivan says of Hasbro at the Erskine Park multi-user facility.

"A team of 10 Linfox employees [works] closely with Hasbro to provide product receipting, wharf administration and de-stuffing services."
