Industry associations line up AFL Grand Final events

Melbourne teams may not qualify for the big match, but that won’t stop seminars and networking in town

The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) will hear from state treasurer Tim Pallas at its annual ministerial breakfast seminar this month.

The event will take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on September 30, in the lead-up week to the Australian Football League grand final.

Pallas will provide attending members with an update on the Victorian economy, particularly in relation to the transport sector, logistics, and infrastructure planning. VTA CEO Peter Anderson says the treasurer will also take questions from the floor.

The slow movement toward the privatisation of the Port of Melbourne, and what to do with the proceeds, are likely to be raised.

The newly-established Container Transport Alliance of Australia is also getting into the football spirit; it will host a Grand Final luncheon on September 29.

The event, at the Prince Albert Hotel in Williamstown, includes a presentation from former Collingwood captain Nick Maxwell.
