Linfox Logistics has finalised its top level management setup a little less than 12 months after the impending departure of CEO Michael Byrne was announced.

The move to convert company secretary and general counsel Annette Carey from acting to full time CEO of Linfox Logistics Australian and New Zealand means the firm two most senior executives are women.

The development comes as business generally and the transport and logistics industry particularly continue to wrestle with gender issues, not least opportunities for women to gain top positions.

Carey joins Linfox Logistics Asia CEO Gabrielle Costigan, whose role was revealed when Byrne’s move was announced last March 18.

"Annette has played a significant role in the business, guiding our growth and future positioning and has overwhelmingly demonstrated sound judgement, clear business leadership and sound commercial acumen," Linfox Group chairman Peter Fox says.

Carey has spent 14 years with Linfox, having spent the first part of a legal career with firms Allens and Mallesons before taking on a role with construction giant Lend Lease.

"Along with our CEO Asia, Gabrielle Costigan, we continue to strengthen Linfox’s position as a supply chain leader across the Asia Pacific," Fox says.

"The pace of change and the opportunities for our business are surging ahead.

"We're confident that as a privately owned company our strong foot print across the Asia Pacific and depth of supply chain experience is difficult to match."

Costigan boasted a military background before joining Linfox Logistics.

"Gabrielle joins Linfox with impressive logistics leadership roles in the aviation industry and in highly complex logistics environments for the Australian and US military," Fox said at the time.

"She will be responsible for efficiently managing our operations in Asia, developing our senior country manager team, and expanding our Asia business footprint."
