NRSPP webinar explains the insights made available inside and outside the cab
Toll NQX has joined a raft of fleet owners in linking with the National Road Safety Partnership Program (NRSPP), most recently for a heavy vehicle safety webinar on in-vehicle cameras.
The initiative builds on a case study the business undertook last year and comes after the Fair Work Commission backed parent Toll on the use of two-way DriveCam in-vehicle cameras in Victoria.
In it, Toll NQX general manager Greg Smith shares insights gained from Toll NQX’s use of telematics and cameras in its efforts to prevent incidents and to protect drivers and the communities they travel through.
Smith says the cameras initiative has succeeded in lowering the rate of incidents.
“Our drivers are professionals but, since the introduction of in-vehicle cameras, our footage has enabled us to see and address occasional behaviours that have the potential to contribute towards an incident,” he adds.
“We’ve also seen how other motorists behave around heavy vehicles. And, while we’re not able to address these behaviours at the time, we can help keep everyone safe by sharing our learnings with the community.
Other transport firms with NRSPP involvement include Boral Logistics, Busselton Freight Services, Hanson, McColl’s Transport and Simon National Carriers.
