Gillenbah truck stop to gain from investment

Driving conditions at location to have $4.8 million in infrastructure works

Truck drivers can look forward to better travelling conditions on the Newell Highway at Gillenbah when improvement works are completed.

The Federal and New South Wales governments have set aside $4.8 million for works on an 800 metre section that is set to improve travelling conditions on the route.

Works include better access to an existing service station and new turning lanes for east and westbound motorists.

Street lighting will also be installed by the end of June.

Riverina MP Michael McCormack says the section will be widened and will have lines marked and signs installed, including a new footpath and pedestrian refuge.

“The Newell Highway is a link between Victoria and Queensland and an important freight route running parallel to the east coast,” McCormack says.
