Truck access upgrade for Mount Gambier saleyards

One sale to be affected as major maintenance is undertaken for the first time

Mount Gambier’s saleyards will soon be upgraded in a bid to lessen the wear and tear on trucks.

The existing pavements, that have not received any significant maintenance since they were built 35 years ago, will be fixed over Easter.

District Council of Grant has set aside $686,170 for the works, which will commence on Monday.

Council Deputy Chief Executive Officer Jane Fetherstonhaugh says whilst council is trying to avoid any disruption, one sale might be affected.

Up to 2,000 livestock are being sold twice a month.

Wallbridge & Gilbert Consulting Engineers will carry out the works.
