A trucking outfit that started life as an owner-driver operation has become the latest company to gain TruckSafe accreditation.

Queensland-based Nightingale Transport has joined the ranks of the safety scheme, which requires members to meet stringent management, maintenance, health and training standards.

Nightingale Transport has grown from an owner-driver operation since its inception in 1994 to a fleet of 17 trucks. It has offices in Queensland and New South Wales and services all areas of Australia.

Nightingale Transport Director Glenn Nightingale says his business joined TruckSafe in recognition of the importance the company places on having safe, reliable equipment and well trained, professional staff.

"Our highest priority is to provide the best service to our customers in the safest, most efficient manner possible," he says.

"It’s also important for our customers to know we’re doing the right thing. That’s why we joined TruckSafe."

TruckSafe-accredited companies must have documented systems ensuring their vehicles and trailers are in a safe and roadworthy condition, drivers are fit and healthy, occupational health and safety standards are being met and drivers are licensed and trained for the tasks they are undertaking.
