Redstar Transport owners have restructured the Bunker brand and are pouring in resources to grow the business

Redstar Transport was known as Bunker Freight Lines when it was part of Silk Logistics.

The company formerly known as Bunker Freight Lines is gaining in strength from a fresh injection of resources and a complete operational restructure.

Redstar Transport, which is under the guidance of directors John Dixon and Sean Williams, was previously known as Bunker and was one of four companies under the Silk umbrella formed six years ago by private equity firm Gresham.

Dixon and Williams, who held positions in Silk, purchased Bunker six months ago when it went up for sale and have since rebranded long-haul freight carrier.

The pair has restructured the business by putting the right management in place and fine-tuned its transport management system.

A great emphasis has also been placed on compliance, health and safety, Williams says, while the directors have invested in 30 new prime movers to bolster Redstar’s service offering.

Having Dixon and Williams at the helm has helped Redstar develop a strong customer base.

"Because customers knew John really well, they knew the business was going to new owners who had a track record in the industry. It was people that they knew and could trust," Williams says.

"Likewise, staff were relieved that the new owners were known to them and were unlikely to come in with wild ideas about changing the way that the business operates."
