Linfox safety guru to provide tips on health and wellbeing

Linfox’s safety and sustainability manager will use his appearance at Trucking Australia to promote health and wellbeing in the industry

Linfox’s safety guru for the firm’s Asia-Pacific operations has been named as a keynote speaker for this year’s Trucking Australia conference.

Group Manager of Safety and Sustainability Andrew Niven will use his appearance at the event to share his strategies for improving the health and wellbeing of people working in the transport and logistics industry.

Niven’s role at Linfox includes promoting healthy lifestyles, early recognition and intervention with serious illnesses, as well as creating a supportive environment for mental health.

“We are at the crossroads every day – our people, our industry, each one of us. For me, that crossroads is what I eat or don’t eat, what exercise I do or don’t do, what medical checks I do or delay,” he says.

“At Trucking Australia 2014, I’ll be going over some of the ways we can start instigating this change towards better health and wellbeing. Ultimately, any change starts with us.”

Along with his speech, Niven will lead a forum where delegates will discuss ideas about how to promote health and wellbeing and how to make trucking and industry of choice.

The Australian Trucking Association (ATA), which organises and runs Trucking Australia, says the ideas developed during the forum will feed into its strategic plan.

Trucking Australia will be held on Hamilton Island on June 6 and 7.
