Kings Group buys Walker’s Haulage

Western Sydney-based transport firm will give parent firm exposure to new markets

Kings Group has bought midsized New South Wales business Walker’s Haulage in a move that will bolster its western Sydney presence, especially in heavy construction services.

The privately held Australasian transport and logistics giant says Walker’s has annualised revenues of circa $25 million and the business specialises in the transportation of heavy freight, with a fleet consisting of more than 80 company owned vehicles and more than 120 trailers, taking the total company owned vehicle assets to over 200.

The majority of the Walker’s fleet consists of prime movers, crane trucks, 8- to 12-tonne rigid vehicles, semi-trailers, extendable trailers drop deck trailers and A-frame trailers.

In addition to the company owned assets, Walker’s also engages a diverse fleet of sub-contractors.

“Strategically located in Wetherill Park, Walker’s Haulage is an industry leader, providing services to a range of industries including building, construction, steel, beverage and infrastructure,” Kings Managing Director Scott Peacock says.

“The strong and diverse customer base along with the significant company assets will add further value to the Kings Group asset base as well as providing further opportunities to expand our existing service capabilities.

“The Walker’s acquisition will increase the Kings Group footprint in the haulage markets, significantly increase our capability to offer further services to our existing clients and expose us to new vertical markets.

“This acquisition is Kings fifth in the last five years and we will continue to aggressively seek further strategic opportunities across the general transport, contract logistics and haulage sectors as we look to continue to diversify our customer base and service offerings.”
