Condo’s Horse Transport has seen a rapid growth in business since it established itself two years ago.

Starting with two trucks, the Cranbourne-based transport company in Melbourne’s south-east is now home to 15 trucks and hundreds of customers.

Managing Director Garry “Condo” Condon, who has been in the horse transport industry for over 20 years, set up his own business after having worked for others.

Since its inception, Condo’s has transported champion racers, mares, yearlings, stallions and geldings nationally.

He points to building trust with customers as a vital part of the business.

“It’s very hard to gain trust. You just have to be honest and if something goes wrong you don’t tell them a lie,” Condon says.

He lists the Cox Plate-winning horse Super Impose as his most favourite to have transported but adds that all horses are treated equally.

“We have seen horses make millions of dollars but you can’t be nervous (when transporting). A horse doesn’t know how much it costs. Even if you have other horses worth a couple of hundred dollars you still have to drive them carefully,” he says.
