Bulk carrier McColl’s Transport has celebrated 60 years in the game with the opening of new headquarters in Geelong, Victoria.

McColl’s Transport CEO Simon Thornton says the opening of the new building is the perfect way to mark the company’s 60th anniversary.

Geelong Mayor John Mitchell attended the event to officially open the new site.

“We’re extremely proud to be cementing our future in Geelong with the opening of this purpose built office,” Thornton says.

“From humble beginnings with just one milk truck to a fleet of more than 500 vehicles, McColl’s Transport remains firmly committed to the company’s Geelong roots.”

The founder of McColl’s, 95-year-old Stuart McColl, also made an appearance to celebrate the opening. The first McColl’s office was a tin shed that acted as the company’s headquarters for 15 years.

McColl’s Transport now employs more than 450 people nationwide, with 11 depots across Australia’s eastern seaboard

Thornton says the company’s growth over the past 60 years has been remarkable and the future looks promising.

“The past financial year was an excellent one for McColl’s and we’ve made a significant investment in fleet and infrastructure as a platform for growth,” he says.
