Trucking exhibition to promote safety message

ATA's travelling truck safety and industry exhibition opens its doors at the 2012 Nowra Show

February 10, 2011

The Australian Trucking Association’s (ATA) travelling truck safety and industry exhibition has opened its doors at the 2012 Nowra Show.

The Road Ahead exhibition is a semi-trailer filled with displays about how to drive safely around trucks and information about careers on the trucking industry.

More than 65,000 people have visited the exhibition since it was launched in 2008.

The exhibition aims to improve road safety through education, ATA CEO Stuart St Clair says.

"In most incidents between a truck and a car, the car driver is at fault, often because they are unaware of the differences between how the truck and their cards handle," he says.

"Through the Road Ahead program, we aim to teach everyone how best to safely drive around heavy vehicles."

The show’s president, James Thomson, says many people will benefit from visiting the exhibition, which will be open today and tomorrow at the Nowra Showgrounds in NSW.
