Police warning to truckies amid rise in thefts

Police warn truck drivers to lock their vehicles as the number of thefts rise in Adelaide's CBD

January 16, 2012

South Australia Police is calling on truck drivers who work within the Adelaide CBD to secure their vehicles following an increase in thefts.

Drivers are asked to lock their trucks when pulling into loading areas or during deliveries.

Officers are also urging drivers to remove any valuables from the vehicle or place them out of sight.

“Theft, and particularly theft from motor vehicles, is often opportunistic and committed within seconds,” South Australia Police says.

“In the Adelaide area, delivery drivers have reported that they pull into loading areas and quickly run in with their delivery leaving the vehicle insecure.”
