Transport identity Ron Finemore has moved to bolster the ranks of his truck servicing division, appointing a former Bunker Freight Lines and Silk Logistics manager to run the Melbourne facility.

Val Gomez is due to join the team of Ron Finemore Tyres next year, which will add a significant level of experience to the business that services operators throughout Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and southern NSW.

Gomez is well-known throughout the industry through his involvement with the Australian Trucking Association’s (ATA) technical council and as the national workshop manager at Bunker and as a fleet manager at Silk.

“I’m excited and pleased that Val has agreed to join our team at Laverton. I know that people like Val with excellent and proven experience in the trucking industry are hard to come by,” Finemore says.

The tyre business is a shop front and service facility and runs what Finemore describes as a “state of the art” retread production service.

“Val’s appointment also allows a key member of our team, Kevin Cook, to focus on ensuring our newly gained accreditation to produce Michelin retreads performs at the optimum level,” Finemore says.

Finemore says Cook will be tasked with ensuring the retread and logistics side of the business runs smoothly.
