Queensland Police is warning motorists of changed traffic conditions around and through Surfers Paradise due to the upcoming Gold Coast 600 racing event.

Motorists are being told to expect traffic delays until late on October 24 when travelling to and from Surfers Paradise.

Queensland Police has encouraged road users who do not need to attend Surfers Paradise to use alternative routes west of the Gold Coast Highway such as Bermuda Street, Bundall Road and Ferry Road until October 24.

“Due to the road changes police are asking motorists to be patient and exercise caution when driving in the area,” Queensland Police says in a statement.

It has also warned motorists against driving in dedicated bus and emergency lanes on the Gold Coast Highway. Queensland Police says motorists will be fined if caught using the lanes.

A full list of road closures has been posted on the Gold Coast 600 website.
