Kings Transport is in the running to be recognised at this year’s Worksafe Victoria awards for its efforts in helping injured staff return to work.

The specialist courier and warehousing firm will compete with PMP Print for the Employer Excellence Award, with the winner to be named at a dinner on October 19.

Kings is part of 30 finalists spanning 11 categories focusing on safety, health and wellbeing and return to work.

The Employer Excellence Award recognises “an employer’s outstanding efforts to support the return to work an injured worker(s) to safe and sustainable work in the last twelve months”.

Kings is the only transport and warehouse operator nominated for an award, with finalists including Nestle, Thiess, KPMG and Boral Cement.

“We’ve received a wide variety of entries showcasing how even small changes in the workplace can make a big difference,” Worksafe Executive Director of Health and Safety Ian Forsyth says.

“These individuals and businesses have gone above and beyond to make improvements in workplace safety, employee wellbeing and efforts to improve return to work prospects for injured workers.”

The awards ceremony is in its 23rd year, and Worksafe says it attracted 176 submissions this year from small and large businesses outlining their approach to improving workplace safety, health and return to work.
