HR help arrives for Queensland’s transport industry

New workforce management toolkit arrives Queensland's transport, logistics and supply chain industry

October 5, 2011

Help has arrived for transport operators struggling to attract and retain staff, with Queensland Transport and Main Roads unveiling a new workforce management toolkit for businesses.

The newly-released People Plus publication, which can be downloaded from the department’s website, has been targeted specifically at the transport, logistics and supply chain industry in Queensland.

Louise Perram-Fisk, who leads the department’s Transform division, says transport companies can use the document to more effectively manage their human resources.

“People Plus is a free publication containing all the information, tools and resources businesses need to effectively attract, recruit, keep and manage employees,” she says.

“The rapid growth of this industry and the constant competition for skilled operators highlights the importance of managing its workforce.”

Despite this, Perram-Fisk says most small to medium-sized businesses do not have staff dedicated to human resources and workforce planning.

The 128-page toolkit is filled with human resource policies, forms, correspondence, checklists and sample items designed to help businesses find, keep, and develop the capability they need to maintain or grow their business.

Hardcover copies of People Plus can also be obtained by contacting Transform directly.
