The Pacific Highway between Frederickton and Eungai will now be upgraded to dual carriageway providing 26km of four lanes.
Announcing the project today, Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Anthony Albanese says the work means “we are one step closer to finishing the dual carriageway upgrade of the entire highway”.
In addition to the Frederickton and Eungai upgrade, Albanese says tenders will be invited to prepare detailed designed for the 14k section between Kundabung and Kempsey which is part of the Oxley Highway to Kempsey project.
Tenders will also be asked to detail designs for the 31km section between Woolgoolga and Glenugie and geotechnical site investigations for 155km of highway to be upgraded between Woolgoolga and Ballina.
“When we increased the federal funding for this road by $1 billion to $4.1 billion in our May budget, I made it clear that the long overdue Clybucca section was going to be the immediate priority,” Albanese says.
“We also welcome the additional $468 million contributed by the NSW Government in its last budget which will go towards this project.”
