Detours in place for Perth City Link project

Trucking operators will be affected due to ongoing works as part of the Perth City Link project

October 4, 2011

Trucking operators will be affected due to ongoing rail works in Western Australia to reconnect the Perth CBD and Northbridge.

The Perth City Link Rail Alliance is sinking the Fremantle Line as part of the Perth City Link project, forcing it to impose detours on heavy vehicles.

Those travelling south on William Street are advised to travel across the Horseshoe Bridge or detour via James Street and then into Lake Street.

William Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction, making it difficult for heavy vehicles to turn without crossing over the lane into oncoming traffic.

Perth City Link says the transport industry has been notified of the works.

The construction is taking place in two stages, with the second stage having commenced and due to be completed in 2014 when the new Fremantle Line tunnel becomes operational.
