BP has started construction of a new truckstop about one hour south-east of Melbourne’s CBD, with the site expected to be up and running by the middle of next year.
The new facility will be located on the corner of Greens and Hammond Road at Dandenong to serve the growing number of trucks travelling in and out of the precinct. BP expects construction to take about nine months to complete.
Once finished, the 24-hour site will house refuelling areas, high speed pumps and a large amount of parking. BP says the truckstop will also have a café, convenience store and showers and toilets for truck drivers.
The oil giant is investing around $10 million in the facility, which BP says is the 15th dedicated truckstop in its network.
“These facilities are on major trunk roads and are designed specifically for truckers. They offer drivers an opportunity to rest and refuel in safe, attractive and well-lit surroundings,” BP Australia’s Dean Salter says.
