September 2, 2011

DHL Supply Chain has scored the job carrying the freight for all 19 teams involved in the 2011 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

The operator says its vehicles will travel 30,000km delivering the uniforms and official team equipment to playing grounds around New Zealand.

DHL, which is sponsoring the tournament, will deliver more than 2.5 tonnes of team equipment and baggage for Australia’s team alone.

The freight is scheduled to leave on September 1 and arrive ahead of the team’s first match against Italy on September 11.

The company says there will be up to 130 domestic team freight moves and at least 200 operational freight moves.
