Truckie hospitalised after serious crash

Truckie taken to hospital after his rig ploughs through a home in Victoria

August 9, 2011

A truck driver was airlifted to hospital in Melbourne yesterday after ploughing through a house in Loch, Victoria.

Aged in his 50s, the semi-trailer driver was placed in an induced coma by paramedics. He was carrying offal around 3.40am when the incident occurred.

Victoria Police says he pulled the wheel of the truck to the right and jumped from the cabin because he believed the truck was going to crash into a petrol station, which he missed. A man and a woman who were inside the house escaped unharmed.

They were in the only room left standing and had to exit via a window.
