Truckie dies after tree branch crushes cabin

Young truck driver dies in hospital after a tree branch fell on his vehicle and crushed the cabin

August 22, 2011

A young driver has died in hospital from injuries sustained last week when a tree branch fell on his rig, crushing the cabin.

The family of the 23-year-old man, who had been placed in an induced coma, yesterday decided to switch off his life support.

He was driving his truck at West Pennant Hills on August 19 about 3pm when the large branch fell on the cabin.

“The man was trapped inside the cabin and was later taken to the Royal North Shore Hospital in a critical condition,” a police statement says.

A report will now be prepared for the coroner.
