SA CFS looks to NZ for fire trucks

Kiwi firm Fraser Engineering gains lion's share of new truck tender

August 8, 2011

The South Australian Country Fire Service (CFS) has cited the need to work within state government tender guidelines for the contracting of 23 of 33 new trucks to New Zealand’s Fraser Engineering.

CFS Infrastructure and Logistics Manager Arthur Tindall has been quoted by the ABC as saying that there were significant savings to be gained from the Fraser tender and that mining deals had taken up the slack for domestic fire truck manufacturers.

Fraser Managing Director Martin Simpson was quoted in NZ online news service stuff.co.nz as saying that, while his firm had done business in Australia before, “this will be the start of our exposure in and domination of the Australian fire market.

“It’s a market that has huge potential for us.”
