June 16, 2011

The coronial inquest into the death of a Canberra man who was crushed by a truck mounted crane made by Palfinger Australia will continue in August.

The 57-year-old Geoffrey William Gowan died while using the crane to lift a rubbish hopper at Evatt in 2009.

The same type of crane made by Palfinger Australia has already been involved in two other deaths in Australia, the ACT Coroner’s Court has heard.

Both victims were crushed by the crane. A hazard warning has been issued for the crane.
